Floor care
Floor Stripping, Waxing & Polishing
Specialty floor care: stripping and waxing hardwood and vinyl, polishing tile and marble.
Chapter 01
Why a floor finish gives up
A floor finish is a sacrificial layer. It exists so boots, carts and chair legs wear the finish instead of the tile underneath. Over a season it does exactly that, which is why the lanes people walk most turn dull and grey while the corners stay glossy. In Fort St John, winter adds grit and a salt film that scratch and cloud the surface faster.
Sweeping and mopping cannot restore a finish that has worn through. Cleaning removes soil; it does not put the gloss back. When the lanes at the doors and down the main corridor stay dull on a floor that is already clean, the finish itself has reached the end of its life, and that is the moment to strip it and start over.

Strip, rinse, finish, burnish
On vinyl and similar resilient tile, stripping removes the old finish and the embedded soil along with it. A stripping solution sits on the floor long enough to break the finish down, the slurry is lifted away, and the floor is rinsed and neutralized so no residue interferes with what goes down next. Skipping that rinse is how new finish ends up cloudy.
Fresh finish goes on in thin coats, each left to dry before the next. Thin coats level out and bond better than one heavy pass. Once cured, a burnisher can bring the surface up to a deeper shine. Quality Clean's specialty floor work also covers waxing hardwood and polishing tile and marble, each handled with the method that suits the material.
Chapter 03
Keeping the shine between strips
A freshly finished floor lasts longest with dull, steady care. Dust-mopping on every visit picks up grit before it grinds into the finish, and damp mopping with a neutral cleaner avoids dissolving the coat you just paid for. A good mat at each entrance catches a large share of the winter salt before it ever reaches the floor.
Between full strips, a scheduled re-coat over the worn lanes buys more time, because a top-up is quicker and less disruptive than going back to bare tile. A crew already doing your routine cleaning sees the floor every visit and can tell you when it is time.
